ero is AT&T’s upcoming release to the smart phone world of mobile electronics. The Aero will carry the Droid OS and is slated as “the lightest Android smartphone ever.” The Aero’s design comes from the Mini 3, which was previously released by Dell in Japan and Brazil. This will be Dell’s first release of a smartphone in to the US market and is one of AT&T’s first Android based mobile phones released.
The Aero has recently made the necessary stop with the FCC, and while the listing did not confirm all of the specs, it did highlight a few, such as the following:
- it is expected to run on Android 1.5 although some are saying that Dell plans an Android 2.1 “refresh” sometime between Q3 and Q4
- it is slated as having a 624 MHz Marvell processor
- it will boast a large 3.5-inch capacitive screen
- it will come with a capacitive stylus for handwriting recognition.
- It has a built-in 5MP camera with autofocus functions
- integration with Flickr, Facebook, Picassa, YouTube and TwitPic.
- it will be equipped with expandable microSD slot with the addition of Wifi support, 3G, 2G Network capabilities
- it will come equipped with built-in bluetooth and GPS capabilities
- also offers a “PC like” web browsing experience with Flash Lite support for streaming audio and video content
This is just a short list of the features as more is yet to come. The Aero is just the first of a nice looking upcoming line up of smart phones from Dell. The Dell Aero smart phone release date is scheduled for sometime in the 2nd Quarter of 2010. Check back often for updates!
